DOSING FORMULA FOR BIOPUR FOR FOG DEGRADATION
  1. Use BioPur (Blue), which is best for degrading FOG, rather than BioPur (Brown), which is best for BOD buildup.
  2. Estimate how much FOG (fat, oil, grease) in ounces is produced per day or within a 24-hour period. Then determine the ratio of concentrated BioPur to water to create the diluted form.
  3. Try the following dilution ratios, starting with the strongest:
  4. – 1 to 10
    – 1 to 20
    – 1 to 50
    – 1 to 100
    – 1 to a higher ratio (if needed)
  5. Try each ratio for three to four days to determine the highest ratio (and thus the least amount of concentrated BioPur) required to keep your grease trap free of FOG.
  6. Then:
  7. (a) Divide the estimated volume of FOG by the selected ratio of BioPur you used.
    (b) Multiply the result of (a) by 30 to get the monthly volume of diluted BioPur required.
    (c) Divide that monthly volume by 30 for daily doses (if heavy daily FOG buildup) or by 4 for weekly doses (if light FOG buildup).

Note:

  • The objective of testing is to determine the highest ratio that still works with your specific FOG content, reducing the volume (and cost) of concentrated BioPur needed each month.
  • The initial estimate of daily FOG does not have to be precise, as adjustments during testing will correct any inaccuracies.
  • If the daily volume of FOG changes significantly, the ratio may need to be adjusted.
